No business like show business
Eric Bergère makes a spectacle of his collection, with a Broadway-Garnier theme, evoking two famous institutions of show business and classical dance. We find wraparound dancer's tops, leggings, fluid shirts, asymmetrical bodysuit dresses, jersey dresses with sporty racer-style backs and torn-off panels, swinging "ballet" skirts and tops that tie across the chest. The carefully torn pareos and Turkish trousers are very summery. There are comfortable oversized jeans covered with straps, worn with a furry "rug" vest, bicolored bell-bottom pants and denim shorts and brassières with large tunics. The flared, embroidered tops with horizontal collars and oblique sleeves have a Mandarin essence about them. For evening, there are fringed vests with embroidered bands and elegant pinafore or antique vestal dresses. There are numerous effects with shredded fabric, lacerated panels, lace slits and threads, fringe and smocked sleeves. Thin straps enlace dresses and tunics. The colors remain classical with ecru, white, indigo, sand, kakhi, clay, black, navy, prune, bronze, grey and a few shades of pink. Motifs include Slavic embroidery and rich cashmeres.
