Pioneers on the quest for summer
It was somewhat of a free-for-all at the entrance to the show, and for many, even some VIPs, it was standing room only because, of the excessive number of spectators. But the Wagram space is large and accommodating and the presentation was well organized, so the show was a success. The popular Belgian designer presented romantic and austere outfits inspired by the pioneers of the American West. There were ruffled blouses with buttoned sleeves and high collars, decorated with discreet embroidery and old-fashioned trousseau pleats worn with long flared skirts with trains, long skirts with large pleats or long low-waisted pants. The trouser suits were proper and monastic, contrasting with the frilled, bubble-shaped bustier dresses. For cool spring evenings there are loosely knit shawls and ponchos with long fringe, lightweight knit turtleneck tops, and vaporous mohair sweaters. For evening, mysterious long coats and capes in transparent chiffon make a dramatic statement. Concerning footwear, there is no alternative: Chinese slippers are de rigeur. The color scheme is limited to grey, black and white.
