The wedding of the century
Inès de la Fressange abandoned tradition and began her show with the bride in a long wool dress surrounded by miniature maids of honor, followed by a female pastor in a black suit with a false white collar. Thus began the colorful show filled with joyful and eclectic blends of styles, materials, genres and eras, with references to hippie chic, the circus, the Belle Epoque and India. Gold or pink sari pants, orange sari skirts, coats with panther prints and flowing flower power skirts were shown with strict 1950's-style flannel grey dresses and pinstriped pants ensembles. Short shorts coexist with long skirts and large or fitted pants, duffle coats were worn over sequined or embroidered dresses, sheepskin appears on bustiers and bikinis. The bright rainbow of shades includes fuchsia, gold, pink, and orange paired with black, lightened by touches of white, grey and beige. The show proved to be a family affair: apart from Nine, Inès' daughter, Ursula d'Urso, her daughter-in-law and her brother Yvan, made an appearance to close the show.
