All the world's a stage...
Marc Le Bihan has a taste for spectacle-fashion shows, incorporating dance and theater, song and pantomime, a melting pot of humanity where representatives from all different races and age groups, small and large, come together before a captive audience. The model/actors present the designer's creations, which reflect his unique sense of blending materials and forms, as well as his taste for theatrical grandeur and unexpected combinations. Large hoop dresses in transparent taffeta or non-woven materials, half-vests over high dresses, large latex panels on a black dress, tulle petticoats and Degas-style dancer's dresses, dresses with trains and bustles, crinolines and frock coats, lace or pleated panels on tunic dresses, old-fashioned corsets over rolled loincloths... a wardrobe full of costumes and unique pieces, the fruit of metaphysical reflection. All is done in an unchanging range of colors: black, ivory and grey. The presentation called for a calm soundtrack of a distant rainstorm, unusual choreography and unexpected accessories including monocles and jewels that adorn and frame the face. This was a Shakespearean-style midsummer night's dream that exists beyond the usual references of time and fashion.
