How does your garden grow?
José Levy's spring-summer 2000 menswear collection, which is dedicated to gardeners and nature lovers, is ultra-fresh and aestivale. The color green is the star of the collection, in all of its shades and nuances: salad green, grass green, Parisian park bench green, grey green, sea green, bottle green There are also soft tones which evoke fresh vegetables (melon, pumpkin, squash yellow), a few fluorescent and bright shades, soft blues and charcoal grey. The collection is comprised of comfortable and practical clothes, coveralls, some rather daring transparent pieces (don't forget a t-shirt and shorts), jackets with kangaroo or apron pockets, ensembles with long Bermuda shorts, airy nylon or raffia knit sweaters, oversized trench coats and raincoats for stormy days, and chic honeycomb weave knits. Special details include teardrop-shaped piping and cut-outs on the back of jackets and sweaters, and leaves that run the length of coveralls and ensembles. We were somewhat perplexed at the pruning shears, garden hose or plant motifs that were strategically placed on the swimwear. As usual, much attention is paid to the choice of materials, which includes both organically-grown cottons and extremely high-tech materials, unusual textures and finishes, coated paper, high-tech gauze, blistered cotton, topstitching and ribbing
