Promenade at Giverny
Hanae Mori, heading the Japanese delegation of French couture, found her inspiration at the very source of impressionism, in the beauty of the seasons in Monet's garden at Giverny. By day, elegant nature lovers can enjoy winter gardens without worrying about the chill in grey wool, flannel or crepe pant suits with miniature black and white checks, cozy wool dresses, or bundled in violet and black doubled capes. Black wool dresses decorated with gold spiral motifs can be paired with coats or jackets with mink collars. For evening, sequins, precious stones, lace and embroidery adorn cocktail suits. Evening dresses feature designs inspired from Japanese prints and the Giverny gardens. There were bustier dresses with tiers of pleats and sheath dresses with interlaced crepe and tulle. The range of colors, including vermilion red, gold, plum, turquoise, violet and fuchsia, will brighten up dreary winter days, and gauze stoles and feather collars bring lightness and grace.
