Fashion kit
John Ribbe continues the theme he introduced last October with his modular clothing "kits", but in a different manner. For the summer collection, one is able to change between a jacket, blouse or tunic with the versatile vertical button panels. For this end-of-the-millennium collection, dress and skirt lengths are transformable (short or mid-length), as are the tops (long jackets become spencers, coats or bustiers feature modular horizontal panels). This do-it-yourself collection is presented in silver or black silk and a black, off-white or crimson wool-Lycra blend. The designer also experiments with inlays and contrasting materials (matte fabrics with chiffons or high-tech materials with more refined fabrics). In this theme we find bands of rolled knit mohair appliqués on a wool jersey base and quilted plastic on silk, organza or wool-Lycra, creating transparency effects.
