Fantastic voyage
Under the sun-drenched cupola of the Bourse du Commerce it was difficult to image the winter chill, despite the wall of water and the confetti snowfall. Regardless, designer Ocimar Versolato's collection transported us to a world populated by fairies and elves where seasons are irrelevant. His long, straight coats are embroidered with metallic sequin orchids while black violets and ginkgos appear on impalpable ecru paper. The pants, also in paper, feature organza piping or embroidered precious stones, jet pearls, black quartz, turquoise or, for evening, 200-carat diamond comets. Fur is used on a fox vest with dancing mink tails, a fox stole and camisole or a mink t-shirt and halter top. A long shaved mink skirt is fringed with fox tails, worn with a chiffon t-shirt embroidered with Brazilian garnets. Violet fox collars or suspenders hold in place airy gauze, silk muslin or wool taffeta dresses or serve as a belt for a frothy lavender silk chiffon dress. Little evening dresses open with unusual panels or feature short and sexy asymmetrical panels. One barely-decent diaphanous silk chiffon dress has strategically placed squares of embroidered amethysts. To carry us into the next millennium there is a silver lace top covered with pearly sequins paired with a paper skirt embroidered with crystal or else a lace vest with hologram sequins over a snowy satin organza skirt... exquisitely modern and beautiful.
